Case Study - Distal Phalanx Fracture
May 2020
This 53 year old woman accidentally caught her fingers in a moving stick blender - she lacerated two fingertips, and sustained a neat transverse fracture of the distal phalanx in her middle finger. She counts herself lucky to still have all her fingers more-or-less intact! We fitted her with a neat protective thermoplastic splint for the fractured digit, and look forward to working with her in the coming weeks to ensure her scars are well healed and desensitised, her fingers are moving freely, and the full functional capacity of her hand is restored.
